A classic 35mm film projector in photographic realism, its brushed metal housing slightly worn and matte, reels threaded with rich amber celluloid, every sprocket and gear crisply detailed. The projector sits on a dark walnut pedestal in a small campus screening room, facing an unseen screen. Golden hour light seeps through high windows, mixing with the cool cone of the projector’s own beam, casting intricate shadows on the textured walls. Dust motes shimmer in the light path. Shot at eye level with a shallow depth of field, the glowing lens is in razor-sharp focus while rows of empty upholstered seats fall into soft bokeh, creating a sophisticated, cinematic atmosphere of quiet anticipation.

BFAS Screenings

This page presents information about BFAS screenings, highlighting themes, communities, and places where Dickinson State University community and beyond connect through film.

The majority of screenings will occur at the Movie Theater in the DSU Student Center. This movie theater is accessible via the Ballroom and contains motorized, reclining seats.

All venues will be specified when a screening is announced.

Screenings are announced as themes due to copyright issues, but you can email either Dr. Christopher J. Olson or Dr. CarrieLynn D. Reinhard for more information.

Night screenings will occur from 6-9pm Mountain unless otherwise specified.

Afternoon screenings will occur from 2-5pm Mountain unless otherwise specified.
